Person-To-Person Connection

Rickshaw Micro-Credit Project

The vast majority of rickshaw drivers rent their rickshaw from day-to-day, living hand-to-mouth on each day's generated income, while at the same time paying a daily fee to their slum lords for use of the rickshaw. This daily rental fee prevents them from ever getting ahead.

It's a feudalistic system of human exploitation that has no place in our world today.

Simply put, we'd like to help set them free. A rickshaw in Nepal can be purchased for approximately 9,000 rupees ($125.00), which although not a large amount of money abroad, is a significant amount of money in Nepal, particularly for a rickshaw driver. Nepal's average individual yearly income is about 26,650 rupees ($365.00).

By obtaining a list of licensed, registered rickshaw drivers from City Hall's in the major cities of Nepal, we will select at random as many rickshaw drivers as are sponsored through our efforts and purchase their rickshaw for them outright, thus freeing them from day-to-day living and exploitive daily payments.

This will eliminate the exploitive daily fees and provide them with their own rickshaw, increased income, and independence. It's an effort that will revolutionize their lives and serve as a direct catalyst for person-to-person connection and change. A fresh, results-oriented, direct approach to community development in Nepal.

A $125 donation will directly provide a rickshaw driver with their own rickshaw - putting an end to the feudalistic arrangement of day-to-day rentals, providing extra income each day, and establishing a sense of freedom and independence that everyone deserves.
