BIJAM Organization And Goals:
- 1. Defining Ourselves:
- BIJAM is the short form of Bidhyarthi Jagarn Manch in Nepali, exactly as Student awareness Forum in English. It is a non-government & non-profit Social Organization.
- 2. Coming into existence:
- During 1994-95 some current Founder members of BIJAM who had just appeared in the certificate & Diploma level Examination and were waiting for the result to
come found it spend their days doing nothing. They also felt that there was danger to fall in the company of some misguided youths spoilt in habit, conduct and
character. Their sharing and interactions in this connection gave birth to BIJAM with purposeful objectives and meaningful service to the community.

- 4. Organizational Profile:
- Student Awareness Forum (BIJAM) is non-profitable social organization, mainly focusing on Harm Reduction and HIV/AIDS/STI prevention and control. It is registered (Reg. No - 163/052/053) in Parsa District Administration Office and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (Affln. 3763/052/053) and Home Ministry (27/056/057).
The Vision of BIJAM is "Service is the rent we pay for the land we occupy on earth".
Our Mission is "Doing away with the vice of the society with our sincere effort and benefit the deprived and needy".
The Goal of BIJAM is "To promote health and Hygiene system, to eradicate poverty, to promote the new idea of rural development and to plan for improving the existing health and education systems".
BIJAM has7 volunteers, ten paid staff and 3 consultant advisors for different programs, namely: Harm Reduction/drug awareness program, HIV/AIDS awareness program and child rights program.
BIJAM started its AIDS awareness program in 1995 working collaboratively with GOs, CBOs and NGOs. It is working with The Central for Harm Reduction/Nepal, BIJAM, DALO, DDC, Peace Crops, Red Barna, DADRP and Birgunj Sub Metropolitan City. At present it has covered in the areas of Bara, Parsa, Rautahat and Makwanpur districts focusing on the HIV/AIDS/STI and Harm Reduction Programs. It has been conducting interpersonal, group and mass communications and harm reduction activities covering awareness, needle/syringe exchange, Sterilization material distributing and PHC services since its establishment. BIJAM is working in collaboration with BIJAM in Bara, Parsa & Ratahat District regarding STD clinic as well training program on HIV/AIDS/STDs, supported by Plan Nepal Bara/Rautahat program. BIJAM has been operating a Drop-In-Center in Birgunj Bus Park and Narayani Sub-regional Hospital since 1996 with the support of Peace Corps, DDC and Birgunj Sub-Metropolitan City.

- - To work for HIV/AIDS/STI, Harm reduction & Drug Abuse Awareness, Prevention and Advocacy Program for high risk groups.
- To Work for child right program and youth mobilization.
