Board of Directors:


   • Rob Buckley - President
Rob served in Peace Corps Nepal in the City Hall of Birgunj for almost three years, where he was integral to the establishment of a city-wide community service youth club (YCC). He was also involved in the institutional advancement of a community-based drug addict and prostitute outreach project with Nepali volunteers (BIJAM). Rob has a passion for Nepal, and loves both the people and the nation. He shares an equal passion for chocolate milk and children's smiles.

   • Jim Buckley - Vice-President, Accounting
Jim has been a Professor of Accounting for over thirty years at Mesa State College, in Grand Junction, CO. Previous professional experience includes five years full-time and two years part-time with accounting firms as a CPA. While always interested in the Himalayan areas, it has only been since his son served in Nepal with the Peace Corps that he has had the chance to focus on Nepal and its people, geography, and culture. He has conducted two book drives, which resulted in approximately two tons of text books being sent to Birgunj, Nepal.

   • Mahesh Aryal - Founder, President of Student Awareness Forum
Non-profit operated by college-student volunteers for the past 10 years. Works with HIV/AIDS and drug harm-reduction programs, and opened Nepal's first bus-park drop-in center for drug addicts. Also conducts peer-education trainings with prostitutes, students, street children, rickshaw-wallahs, and truck drivers. Student Awareness Forum has partnered officially with Save the Children, USA; UNICEF; UNDP; U.S. Peace Corps; Volunteer Services Overseas; Australian Youth Ambassadors; Red Cross; Nepal Ministry of Local Development; Birgunj City Hall; and Parsa Village Development Committee.

   • Lal Babu Raut - Coordinator, Youth Development Program
Has coordinated and conducted youth development activities through the Birgunj City Hall for the past 6 years. These activities include environmental trainings; sanitation programs; youth concerts; youth sports tournaments; library creation; low-caste children's school interactions; HIV/AIDS and drugs seminars; youth club creation; and job- and life-skills trainings. Mr. Raut is also a lecturer of English at the Hari Katan Mulitple Campus in Parsa District.

   • Sudarshan Singh - Director, Youth Community Center, Birgunj
Has directed Youth Community Center since it's inception 2 years ago. Mobilized youth into effective, active, engaged youth community-service clubs throughout the entire city of Birgunj; advocated and lobbied within Birgunj City Hall for increased funding; directed media and community outreach programs; directed Youth Community Center city-wide programs, including volunteer tutoring centers, library and computer lab construction, sanitation and recycling programs, HIV/AIDS and drugs seminars, and office organization.
